Subtracting

We have blown Miss Broxholme's and Mrs Millar's socks off with our maths this week. We have learnt what subtraction means and have tried lots of different methods to help us to take away.

Children in Need

Today we have had a super day taking part in raising money for Children in Need. We were very lucky to have a surprise visit from Pudsey Bear and he came into the hall to meet us all. The radio came in to speak to lots of us and we were able to shake Pudseys hand which was very exciting.

Remembrance Day

Today the children went into assembly and with the rest of the school they listened to a story about remembrance. At 11.00 they stood for 2 minutes silence to remember the people that have fought and are still fighting for our country.

The children stood beautifully for the silence and made all of their teachers proud.

Diwali

This week the children have been finding out about Diwali. They learnt that it is a Hindu celebration of the festival of light. At the beginning of the week the children watched a short film about Diwali then during the week they have taken part in lots of different activities.

They made Rangoli patterns in spiced play dough with lentils, coloured in Mendhi patterns and made Diva lamps with salt dough and decorated them with sequins.

Sparklers

The children had so much fun holding sparklers today. They thought the sparklers made crackling, fizzing and crunching sounds. It was lots of fun moving the sparklers around.

Author Day

Today we studied Julia Donaldson's 'Room on the Broom.' We joined together with FS1 and worked in the hall. There were lots of different stations that we could work on. There was lots to choose from and we even got to eat some yummy witches hats we made.

Reading Swap

This afternoon we enjoyed a Reading Swap with the Year 3 children in class 6. Half of us went to class 6 and half of them came to our class. We enjoyed sharing story books with the big girls and boys and listening to them read to us.
