Shared Reading Afternoon

We are enjoying our shared reading afternoon. 

Making Pasta Salad

This week we have been talking about healthy foods. The children decided what vegetables they would like to put into a pasta salad and today they made their own! Some children chopped the vegetables using special knives and then they all chose which vegetables to put into their pasta.

Visit to the Shop

This week we have learning about healthy eating. We took a visit to the Co-op to explore the differences between healthy and unhealthy foods. Then we bought a range of foods with the purpose to explore the changes of them over the next couple of weeks. We want to investigate what will happen to healthy and unhealthy foods over time.

Gruffalo's House

The Gruffalo is sad because all his friends have a nice house but he doesn't. He asked the children if they could help to make him a house. Some children chose to turn the wooden cottage into a home for the Gruffalo.

They made him a bed, tv, sofa, curtains, postbox and an oven. The children labelled all of the things "so the Gruffalo would know what they are". They even gave the house a number!

Minibeast Hunt

The children have been on a minibeast hunt today. They went over to forest school and carefully moved lots of logs and pots. The children ticked off the different minibeasts that they found and some were really brave and picked them up!

The Gruffalo

We realllllllllyyyy wanted to help the Gruffalo today to write his story as they had gone missing from school. He left his footprints in the classroom and asked us to help so Mrs Pearson could read the stories too. 

We did a super job at beginning to write our Gruffalo stories. We thought carefully about our phonics and the order of the story. We remembered lots of the key elements and characters.
